Program Details

As a participant you will:

  • Be part of a cohort of 20 high school students

  • Have support from ELCP Project Coordinator to help access any resources needed to be successful in the project. 

  • As a senior, upon completing the 3 courses, you may be eligible for a paid internship (stipend) and will receive support to qualify for a National Child Development Associate Credential (CDA). 

Project funds cover:

  • Tuition at HawCC for a total of 9 credits for 3 courses:

    • ECED 105: Intro to Early Childhood Education

    • ECED 110: Developmentally Appropriate Practices

    • ECED 131:  Early Childhood Development Theory Into Practices

  • Textbooks

  • First Aid/CPR certifications (valid for 2 years from being certified) 

  • DHS background clearance (requirement for volunteering in a child care center) 

Total value of completing the program: $4,500 

 Ready to start?

  1. Notify your school college career counselor.

  2. Complete all the requirements needed. (dual credit form, placement test, and Hawaii Community College registration)

  3. Register for ECED course.
